As a fat loss coach, i receive many e-mails and some of them are made up of these excuses….

So what exactly are these complain?

Excuse #1: I don’t know what to eat to lose weight
Excuse #2: All the Weight Loss Foods Are Expensive
Excuse #3: I am too busy to prepare food for weight loss

I am not sure if you have made any of this excuses at some point in the past before, or that you currently make them.

So I want to Quickly Address these Excuses…

If you don’t know what to eat to lose weight, I am about to show you EXACTLY what to eat that will help you lose weight.

Not only that, these foods are affordable and you can get most of them from the local market women out there.

And many of them are very easy to prepare without any fuss at all.

What I mean is this…

You currently cook many of the meals you eat right?

The weight loss meals that you will swap to start eating from now henceforth will not take you more time than you currently spend to prepare the meals that you are eating right now.

So What Exactly Are Weight Loss Friendly Foods?

These list of 34 foods are what many of your favourite Foreign and Nigerian based celebrities add to their daily meals and in their weight loss diet.

She is a mother of 3 boys, and she is 38 years old and she has been able to maintain a slim figure.

She is an actress and director, and here’s her drinking smoothies made from fruits and vegetables which I have listed above.

Apart from Omoni, other celebrities such as Dakore Akande, Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde, Mercy Johnson, Kate Henshaw all follow a healthy living routine using these  34  super foods that I mentioned above and more.

So why am I mentioning the names of these celebrities?

Well, it’s because a lot of us admire their body figure and wish we can have something like that.

We believe that many of them use some special weight loss surgery, specific tea, or even some form of pills etc.

No, They are regular people like you and me, and they followed a healthy based weight loss diet that helps them remain beautiful and youthful in their looks.

Luckily for you, you too can incorporate these foods into your diet and start seeing result on your body within 2-3 weeks.

Many of these weight loss foods are not more expensive than the foods that you currently eat. This means, you can prepare them into a meal that you can eat without breaking the bank.

Some of the meals you can prepare with these super foods are what I have below:

You need to manage it as part of your meal plan, daily routine in a way that won’t cause you to make too much changes.

I will admit that this is the BIGGEST problem facing a lot of people who are trying to lose weight.

You start your weight loss journey and within the first 1-2 weeks, you suddenly run out of ideas  and then eventually, you abandon your weight loss journey.

Only to be motivated again few months later when you see another “BEFORE” and “AFTER” picture on Instagram or facebook.

PART 2: How Your Body Can Burn Fat Rapidly

In this PART 2 of this series, we are moving forward.

I want to show you EXACTLY how your body will burn fat when you are on a weight loss journey.

A lot of weight watchers (yes, I mean you) don’t even know how this weight loss thing works, and this makes them fall for anything out there.

A lot of people want to lose weight…But what is the BEST way to do it?

Off the top of my head, I can count at least 30 different weight loss and fad diets out there.

Some of them are…

  1. 5:2 Diet
  2. Paleo Diet
  3. Vegan Diet
  4. Chicken Diet
  5. Green Smoothie Diet
  6. Detox Diet
  7. Intermittent Fasting Diet
  8. etc

Infact, there is another type of diet out now that is the new craze in Nigeria which is called “The Ketogenic Diet”

This many type of diets can make you feel overwhelmed and confused.

Why Should It Be Confusing?

I mean, all you want, is just to lose weight, burn the excess mound of fat and get your own body back just like in this BEFORE and AFTER picture below:

The truth is, I understand what you mean….

You see, to be able to transform your body from the “BEFORE” that you see above into the “AFTER” that you see next to it…

You need to understand how your body works to burn fat off. And I’d like to explain it to you in simple, lose terms below:

The extra “Jiggly” fat that you have on your arms, your belly, your thighs etc, are basically excess sugar, that your body has stored away under your skin.

This sugar comes from most of the carbohydrate based food that you eat on a daily basis, such as Rice, Pounded Yam, Granulated Sugar (in tea), Garri, Akpu, Pasties e.g. Meat Pie, Cake etc.

When your body undergoes “activity” such as climbing the stairs, walking, swimming etc, your body automatically uses the stored sugar to give your body the energy to do those activities.

See it more like when the petrol in your car gives your car engine energy to roll forward when you press the accelerator.

Now, the more activity you carry out, the more energy (sugar) that your body burns to do that activity.

And the more energy burn, the more your body shrinks in size on a daily basis, until it completely burns off the excess fat from your body.

It is at this point, that you conclude that you have lost fat. It is at this point that you now have what is called a “BEFORE’ and “AFTER” picture like below:

But that is not all….

There is a second factor that is responsible for 80% of the fat that you will lose from your body.

And whatever you do, you MUST pay attention to it, or else, your weight loss journey will be fruitless.

And that is the “FOOD” that you eat!

So, just as your body is trying to use the excess sugar that is stored underneath your skin in the form of fat to burn energy…

If you suddenly eat a bowl of Pounded Yam & Egusi Soup, or you snack on a piece of chocolate or cake…

Your body automatically suspends it’s job of “using the fat” stored under your skin as energy.

Instead, it starts to use the “sugar” in the food that you just ate as your body’s source of energy.

What this means is that…

Your body will abandon the stored fat under your skin, and instead start using the energy from the sugar in the pounded yam or cake that you just consumed.

And when this happens, your body will stop losing weight.

This is the exact reason why a lot of people who cheat a lot on their weight loss journey never get result.

I hope you get what I mean?

So what is the best way to trick your body into using the fat stored in your belly, arms, thighs as energy even if you are still eating food on a daily basis.

Well…

The key to doing that is for you to….

Eat delicious meals that are low in carbohydrates and sugar and are considered to be fat burning.

When you eat these type of meals, the amount of sugar in them is very low.

This means, your body will not have to switch to burning off sugar from the food you eat.

Instead, it will continue to use the fat under your skin to lose more and more weight.

So what exactly are these meals?

Don’t worry, I’ll tell you.

7 Nigerian Foods That Promote Weight Loss

If you are on a weight loss journey, it is super important that you add this Ofada/local rice into your diet because of it’s weight loss benefits.

Avocado is actually one of the best kind of food you can eat to lose weight and I always recommend my client to eat as much of it as possible without feeling guilty.

4. Watermelon

It is alkaline in the body and helps your body to detox and burn off belly fat too when you eat it as part of a healthy diet.

5. Sweet Potatoes

And when they use it, the result they get in their body system is just astonishing. Luckily for you, this tea is very affordable.

If you go into any supermarket e.g. ShopRite, you can get the Lipton Green tea brand for about N500 – N700 Naira.

How To Lose Arm Fat

Are you on a weight loss journey right now?

If you are, you will find out that there are two places where fat can be so stubborn and will not leave on time.

Those two places are:

1. Belly Area
2. The Arms

You might have even lost 5kg, 10kg or even up to 15kg of fat from your body, but yet, you find that the fat around your arm just refuse to go.

And just maybe these excess fat has forced you into wearing long sleeves all the time just to cover it all up.

But I want you to worry no more…

 

To burn arm fat, the first thing you need to take care of is your diet!

 

That means, you need to cut out sugary, fat inducing foods from your daily diet. This is super important!

If you don’t swap your diet for a healthier one, all your efforts at losing arm fat will be in vain!

Start with a healthy fat burning diet.

That is, you put yourself on a food timetable of healthy eating that will help your body burn fat. A good example of that diet timetable is this 3-Day Time Table which I created for you a while back that you can see below:

Now, once you fix your diet, the next thing you should do is to do arm exercises and workouts that will build the muscles on your arms.

When you build muscles, the fat on your arm will strip away and your arms will become leaner and more toned.

NOTE FOR WOMEN: Many women are scared of doing exercises with their arms because they are afraid of having muscles like men.

The truth is…

Men have “bigger muscles’ due to a certain hormone in their body called “Testosterone”.

This hormone is responsible for giving men the “bulky muscles” that you see, and unless you have been taking steroids, your chances of getting big muscles like a man is very low.

So, what are the workouts that you can do….

Bicep Curls

You will need two dumbbells for this exercise. Your dumb bells should have between 2kg – 5kg in weight depending on how much you can carry.

You then swing the dumbbells towards your chest like in the video demonstration below:

Perform three sets of 12 repetitions of this on a daily basis, and you will see a great difference in your arm as the fat will start melting away.

Push Ups

A lot of people find this workout difficult to do. But there is an easier method of doing it, and that is when you do the pushups on your knee.

With pushups, start with 5-10 repetitions and do it daily and increase the repetitions as you become stronger.

Tricep Dips

This is a body-weight exercise that focuses on the back of your arms to eliminate fat.

For this workout, you will need a sturdy chair and if you watch the video below, it will show you how to do this workout.

Apply these workout routines into your daily schedule.

It will take just 10-15 minutes to do, and if you commit religiously to it over 2 weeks, you will see amazing result.

Avoid These 7 Fattening Foods!

When it comes to losing weight, what you put in your mouth is the most important thing you have to pay attention to. That is because, the #1 reason why people get fat is when they eat more calories than their body burns.

And if you want to lose weight, you need to cut down on your consumption of some fatty foods.

Here’s a list of 7 foods that are highly fattening

1. Soft Drinks

Most soft drinks out there have a high concentration of sugar and contain empty calories without any nutrients. I am talking about drinks such as Coke, Fanta, Hi-Malt, Maltina, Pepsi, Limca, Teem etc.

A study conducted in the United States Of America has shown that people who regularly drink soft drinks are more likely to gain weight than people who don’t.

That is not all…

If you drink soft drink a lot, you are increasing your risk of type 2 diabetes and heart diseases.

The bottom line is that, if you are trying to lose weight, you need to give up drinking coke.

Some people are addicted to it, so the best way to get over this addiction is for you to drink this NATURAL lemon drink instead.

2. Fruit Juice

I am talking about the processed fruit juice that you see in packs such as Five Alive, Dansa Fruit Juice, Don Simon, Fumman, Chivita etc

A lot of people think that these processed juice are actually healthy.

But unfortunately, they are not healthy at all. They contain a lot of added sugar (even when they claim not to add anything to it)

Also, because they are processed, the fibre and other nutrients have been removed, leaving you with a high concentration of sweetened sugary drink.

When you drink excessive amount of it, can lead to obesity.

3. White Chocolate (Milk)

Most of the commercially produced chocolate are also high in fat and added sugar.

Some of these includes…Cadbury Milk chocolate, Chocomilo, Thorntons, Snickers, Kitkat, Maltesers, Ferrero Rocher etc.

These chocolates are easy to “snack” on, and it’s easy to overeat them.

Do you know that the Cadbury milk bar (45g) contains about 240 calories with about 25 grams of sugar which is same as 6 teaspoons of sugar?

I am talking about the chocolate bar below:

And there are some people that eat 5-10 pieces of this at a go! That is HIGHLY fattening!

4. Cookies And Doughnuts

Cookies and doughnuts are extremely yummy to eat but high in refined flour and added sugar.

They can be extremely high in calories as well.

If you are on a weight loss journey, you should walk away.

No…scrap that.

You should run as fast as your legs can carry you when you see cookies or doughnuts. For optimal health and weight, avoid doughnut and cookies as much as possible.

5. Ice-Cream

If you love ice-cream, I am sorry to bust your bubble.

Most of the ice-cream you buy out there are extremely high in sugar content and because a lot of people eat it as part of a meal…

It can add a lot of extra calories to the meal you already ate.

When you eat a large amount of ice-cream, your body stores the excess in your fat cells which in turn manifest in the form of excess fat.

6. Sugar Sweetened Tea and Coffee

When you drink tea bag or coffee on it’s own without added sugar, you are actually not going to add any weight.

But you see, a lot of people like adding sugar to their tea and coffee.

And some people even go a step further by buying tea and coffee that has already been sweetened with sugar and sweet syrup.

When you drink sweetened tea and coffee, it can contribute a lot to weight gain.

7. Other Processed Foods

Foods that are manufactured and are highly processed are known to contain a lot of added sugar and salt. Most processed foods are high in calorie because they do not contain any fibre that will make you full when you eat them.

On your weight loss journey, you need to avoid highly processed foods such as potato crisps, Gala, biscuits etc

If there is any food that you eat on this list, I want you to do all you can to cut down on your consumption of those foods.

If you consume any of the foods above regularly and in excess, you will gain more and more weight over time.

Then you need to cut down on your consumption of these fattening foods right away.

If you don’t, you may not see any significant result in your weight loss, so do all you can to avoid these foods.
