If you are familiar with Facebook and Instagram, you will know that a lot of Nigerian Celebrities flaunt their body after child birth.
One of the reasons why they do that is to actually showcase how “quickly” they’ve been able to get back to their body shape rapidly after childbirth.
Sometimes, a lot of people leave comment asking “how did you do it”. What pills did you use? etc.
And in today’s e-mail, I want to show you exactly how you too can get your own “sweet sixteen body” back after child birth.
If you are a nursing mother, have children already or still looking to have your own kids in the future, this article will benefit you GREATLY.
If you gave birth naturally, give yourself at least 4 – 6 weeks for your body to recover from having a baby before you start trying to lose weight actively.
If you had a C-section, my advice is that you wait till you heal up and ensure that your doctor certify you fit before you commence any form of active weight loss workout.
Forget what you see other celebrities do and post online as their “post baby body”. Most times, they follow an extreme measure of weight loss that may not be healthy for them.
Don’t put yourself in harm’s way by trying to measure up to their own standards.
For example, if you gave birth via C-section, don’t compare yourself with that celebrity who gave birth NATURALLY and was able to get rid of their baby fat within 2 months.
Once you are fit to lose weight, you need to start by eating healthy foods daily.
Get your hubby or relative to buy you as many fruits and vegetables as you can from the local market.
I am talking about fruits and vegetables such as Orange, Apple, Banana, Garden Egg, Water Melon, carrots, cucumber, cabbage, lettuce, Ugwu, Spinach, water Leaf, Grapes, Lemon etc.
Then dice and make fruit salad, vegetable soup/stew or snack on any of these fruits and vegetables.
Also include fibre rich foods such as Oats, Beans, Plantain, Moi Moi, Plantain Amala, Ofada Rice, Whole Grain Pasta as well as protein such as skinless chicken, lean meat, smoked, grilled or boiled fish, Eggs etc in your meals.
Make sure you also cut out fizzy drinks from your meals e.g. coke, fanta, bitter lemon, pepsi, Lacasera etc Just drink water instead.
Not only that, avoid all sugary foods, fast foods, sweets, cakes, biscuit, pastries etc.
And make sure you watch your portion sizes. Eat 5-6 small meals (from the foods above) daily. Here’s a trick…eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and in between them, snack on fruits and vegetables. This will make it 5 to 6 times.
Sometimes recently, I got an e-mail from a subscriber who wanted me to tell her “its ok” to use a a certain “Garcinia Camogia” infused weight loss pill while she was breastfeeding.
I quickly replied and said…Dont!
She responded back saying, but the manufacturer and seller said it’s ok to take this pill if you are breastfeeding etc.
And I quickly replied that she should ignore what the manufacturer said and speak with her doctor as its unsafe. Every food, drink, medication that you take as a nursing mother pass through your milk supply to the baby.
Whatever you do, do not compromise your own health or that of your baby by using weight loss pills that you do not know the ingredients used in making them.
By using fat loss pills, you may expose yourself and your baby to negative side effects that will outweigh the benefit of the weight loss itself.
Nursing a baby after childbirth can make you feel very tired, stressed. Not only that, you might even drowsy most times because you will be deprived of sleep.
And let’s be realistic, it will make you just ignore exercise and make you want to sit down only and watch tv or get that moment of rest and sleep.
It’s normal for you to feel that way, so don’t feel bad.
What you can do is to incorporate simple easy exercise such as these three that I have highlighted below with short videos on how to do them…
1. If you follow the method I shared with you above, your breast milk will flow effortlessly.
Most people who go on a restrictive diet or starve themselves are the ones that find it hard to produce enough milk for the baby.
If you eat healthy foods in small portions 5-6 times daily, you will have no problem producing enough milk for your baby.
As soon as you start following the above tips, you will start losing weight naturally. However, let me warn that you should give your body time to lose weight.
Set realistic expectation. Give yourself weeks or months for your body to drop the pounds.
I know you probably want to go to bed tonight, and wake up tomorrow morning with a slimmer body and a flatter belly.
And don’t blame yourself for feeling that way. If you see a celebrity with their amazing post baby fit body, it’s easy to believe they got that result within few days.
Usually, it takes them weeks and months to get to that body size and they start to show it off without telling you how much work they’ve put in or how long it took.
